About me

Bregje Kleijnen
educational child psychologist

I support children and adolescents who have become stuck due to difficult experiences or a lack of care and connection at important moments in their lives. With care, expertise and genuine attention to their story, I help them understand their emotions, process what they have been through, and gradually start to grow again.

Together, we choose an approach that fits their unique situation and goals — for example using CBT, ACT or EMDR. This creates space again for growth, connection, trust and healthy development.

Real connection is the foundation for growth and trust.

What I stand for

Every child deserves to live life to the fullest

I believe that every child and young person deserves more than just to survive — they have the right to truly live. To play, to learn, to discover who they are, and to feel that they matter. In my guidance, the child is central, with their own story, pace and strengths. I work from respect, trust and real collaboration, so that children not only understand themselves better, but can also reconnect with the people around them.

This connection does not happen automatically. That is why I always work together with the system around the child — such as (foster) parents, family homes and other involved adults. Together, we create a safe foundation where recovery becomes possible, resilience can grow, and a sense of joy in life can return.

Not just surviving, but truly living and learning.

Experience and expertise

Experienced, professional and tailored

With more than 20 years of experience as an educational psychologist in youth care, I aim to contribute to a carefree childhood for every child. I have specialised in trauma-informed care, trauma treatment and attachment.

Every child and family situation is unique. I want to offer support that fits this, and to work together with children and parents on connection, resilience and new perspectives. I use effective methods such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – to help change unhelpful thinking patterns
  • EMDR – to process difficult experiences
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to learn how to deal with difficult thoughts and emotions

My expertise lies in supporting children and adolescents who struggle with anger, anxiety, sadness, insecurity, or processing difficult experiences. Together with them and their parents, I work on resilience, trust and new perspectives.

Expert support that meets what is truly needed.
