CBT

Think differently, feel differently, act differently

Sometimes children get stuck in negative thoughts such as “I can’t do it anyway” or “Nobody likes me.” These thoughts can lead to feeling low, angry or withdrawn. With Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), children learn to look at situations and themselves in a different way. They also practise new behaviours. They discover how thoughts influence feelings, how to use more helpful thoughts, and how to experience success again. This gives them more control over their emotions and behaviour. As a parent, you gain insight into this process, so you can continue to support your child.
With CBT, your child gains more control over their thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Together, we build self-confidence and resilience.

EMDR

Processing difficult experiences

After a difficult experience, images or feelings can sometimes stay ‘stuck’ in a child’s mind and body. This could be after an accident, a loss, or another upsetting experience. EMDR helps to process these memories. The child is asked to bring the most difficult part of the memory to mind, while at the same time doing tasks that require attention, such as following movements with their eyes. This helps the brain to let go of the distressing feeling. Many parents notice that their child sleeps better, reacts more calmly and feels safer after EMDR.
EMDR helps children process difficult experiences, creating space again for calm, growth and enjoyment.

ACT

Following your heart!

Some children and adolescents struggle with feelings that don’t easily go away, such as sadness, anger, shame or anxiety. ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) helps them not to keep fighting these emotions, but to recognise them, look at them with a bit more distance, and give them space — without losing control. They learn that difficult feelings are a natural part of life, and that they can still make choices based on what is important to them. Parents often notice that their child becomes more resilient and better able to cope with stress.
ACT helps children follow their heart. They learn how to deal with difficult feelings without getting stuck in them. This brings calm and direction, also in the long term.
